The village of Hooke is tucked away in an area of outstanding natural beauty and at its heart stands the tiny 15th century church of St Giles There are numerous pleasant walks of varying length and difficulty in the immediate vicinity in either Hooke Woods or country lanes. To the south of Hooke lies the iron age hill fort of Eggardon impressive even after two thousand years.
The interesting and ancient town of Beaminster is just four miles away to the west and it has shops and pubs cluster around an old market square. Three miles from Beaminster is the Broadwindwinsor Craft Centre.
The small fascinating harbour of West Bay and the town of Bridport are just nine miles from Hooke and the county town of Dorchester is 13 miles east of Hooke. West Bay boasts an excellent fish restaurant over the back water and The Hive Restaurant which is situated on the beach just outside Burton Bradstock is an excellent place to eat locally caught fish. Abbotsbury with the Swannery, Tropical Gardens and Chesil Beach is a good place to visit and Mapperton House and Gardens is just four miles from Hooke and is a lovely place to enjoy a coffee or light lunch
